The Truth Every Christian-Based Business Owner Must Understand

The business battle-filed of the business world is filled with people who started a christian based business or who invested in a christian business opportunity with nothing momre than a prayer and a hope.
In my many travels around the world teaching and motivating christian based businesses, I have met several people who assured me that they heard the voice of God (often confirmed by other christians) before they started a particular christian-based business opportunity but yet are bewildered that the business collapsed within a few months. They seemed to beleive that just becuase God spoke to them about starting a business, then the business is guaranteed to succeed as long as they remained holy and prayerful about it.
Well, if you are one of the people under that illusion, I assure that it takes a little bit more than prayer and fasting and holiness to sustain a business in a competive world. it does not matter whether it is a christian business opportunity is or how you received the call to start it, if you do not follow sound business principles and strategies, your prayers and fasting, and indeed that of your pastor, may not be enough to prevent your business from going belly up.
God is a planner. The whole creation sequence of the world is a classic study in preparation and doing stuff in the right order. First light was separated from darkness, them land was separated from water, then came the other things like plants and finally the animlas before God introduced the star and ruler of His creation - Man.
While it is true that God did promise the Israelties and by extension all Chrisitans that wherever they step they shall possess, He expects us to plan for your success even after hearing his audible voice. We saw this in one of the most popular stories of the old testament found in Number chapter 13 when God told Moses to send out spies ot spy out the promised land prior to the israelite invasion. Now, the question we should ask is, why would God, the omnipresent and omnipotent creator of the universe (which included the promised land) would need people to go and spy out the land to find out if the land is fruitful or if it was well defended?
Of course God knew the condition of the promised land and how fruitful and fortified the land was. He obviously does not need the information! He could have given Moses the full report of the land if He wanted. So, why ask Moses to send the best leaders from every tribe to go and find out this information? I believe the idea was to teach them that there can never be possession without preparation. Nobody is going to give you the 'promised land' without aggressive some aggressive effort on your part. The Israelites fought wars for decades to possess their promised land (and they are still fighting!), even though God had explicitly promised it to them thousands of years ago.
You cannot win in any christian based business, indeed in any business for that matter, if you have no idea how to deal with marketplace issues like production, marketing, sales and finance. You are bound to fail if you go into the business battle with just your prayers and your 'annointing'. Even David had to get stones from the river to fight Goliath. Gideon had to sift his fighting force down to the best prepared of the lot. David's wars were cleverly planned out in advance before battle was ever joined.
To succeed in your chosen christian business opportunity, you must be prepared to do the proper research to indentify the key success indicators in your industry. You must research and master the tools of your particular christian business opportunity. You must ask yourself, and answer, critical questions such as: what tools do I need? How much do I need to budget for this business to start and to market it every month? How do I process my orders? How do I get customers for my business? Where is the finance for my business coming from? What products do the market really want? etc.
Now, of course I am not saying prayer or fasting is irrelevant. Far from it. Just as you cannot succeed with prayers alone, you also cannot succeed without enough prayers for as long as you call your business opportunity a christian based business. By identifying your business as a christian business opportunity, you are automatically inviting the forces of evil and the cohorts of the master destroyer to target you and your christrian based business. So, you need constant prayers and fasting and vigilance otherwise the evil forces will bury you in the marketplace. Remember, as a christian, you do wrestle against flesh and blood, and in spiritual warfare nothing is off limits to the devil, especially your business. So, you must pray. You must fast, and you must be spiritually vigilant.
However, after winning the spiritual battle, you must understand you still have to ocmpete on the physical level and if you dont have the right business plan or business strategy, you will get buried even as you fast and pray yourself to death.
